Brett and Doug left for Shelbyville first thing this morning. I went to the license branch to find out that I still couldn't register the car. We have to have the physical title with us before we can do that and Jordan Auto Mall just mailed it to us. Thus, we will have to take care of it on May 22nd, so he has it when he comes up for Meg's confirmation.
Next on the to do list was to drop off the Civic to the Honda dealer to have additional keys made. It only came with one and we thought it would be best to have a spare. While that was being taken care of we drove to Brett's new apartment. We found out last night that it was ready whenever he was, so we were happy to be able to start the move in process.
Brett has a one bedroom apartment a street over from campus. There is a living room, small bedroom with an open door, full bathroom and small kitchen. It will be perfect for him this summer. We unloaded the van fairly quickly and then drove back across town to pick up the Civic. Once that was unloaded we then had to clean out Brett's dorm. Even though he doesn't have a lot and all of it was organized, it still took several trips. I stayed with the van and keep "leap frogging" spots to get closer to the door. The circle drive was packed with a lot of students, parents and cars today.
Once the van was loaded we went back to the apartment to unload one last load. Doug set up the bed and the table while Brett and I started to unpack. We also began a list of all of the items Brett still needed from home or from Kroger. By 2 Doug was ready for lunch. I stopped by Parce's on the way out. He was going to go to Gavin's baseball game, so he didn't make the trip to Oliver Winery with us.
It was another gorgeous afternoon and we had a wonderful lunch. Doug left for home around 3:30. Brett and I headed back to the apartment. Brett did very well driving, especially with all of the graduation and end of the semester traffic. His parking spot is tight, but once he pulls in and out several times he will get the hang of it. We decided to walk to the bookstore. Brett wanted to sell back a clicker from his math class. I was on the lookout for a new jacket for Cameron as he lost his IU one over Spring Break.
After that Brett went to the dorm to finish vacuuming and to turn in his key. I spent a couple of hours at the apartment unpacking. We made a huge dent in it by the time Brett was reading for dinner. He wanted to go to Logan's Steakhouse and we were able to get a table. After that we went to Kroger. It was the nicest Kroger I have ever seen. We were able to find everything we needed including a broom. I helped Brett put the groceries away and was absolutely wiped out by the time he dropped me off at 10 p.m. at Parce's. It was definitely a productive day.
