Today was my first full day of summer vacation and it couldn't have gotten much better. The morning started off at both Cameron and Meg's soccer games. This was tournament day. Cam's team had to win Thursday night to make it to this morning's round. Cam played well at goalie and it was a close game, but in the end his team was defeated which gave us all a chance to watch Meg's games.
Meg played in the second of the U-14 games. They had played this team twice already, but were nervous anyway. In the end they didn't need to be as they won easily 6-2. The highlight for Meg was scoring on Cameron Gillum. There was a half hour break between games. We hung out with the Hollar boys while waiting. The threat of rain held off for the most part and we only had to deal with a couple of small bursts of sprinkles. Meg's team had a lot of good shots on goal, but until four minutes to go in the game they were tied 1-1. Meg had one off the post to break the tie, but it came right back out to the goalie. Finally, Meg got an assist and we scored the go ahead goal. After that their team let down and we scored right away again. Meg and Doug were both pleased with the season. They finished undefeated and champions of the league. Meg tied for leading scorer for her team. Meg and Doug have now won three different times which is a first for a Heinisch. Meg ended her LYC career on a high note and is ready for high school soccer.
