I woke up a few days ago with a terrible sore throat. I wasn't completely surprised as Doug, Maggie and Cal had all come home from Disney with the same symptom. It had been over three years since I had been sick and figured that I would be over it in a couple of days. That wasn't the case, however, and by this morning, I realized that I couldn't go to Bible study. It wasn't just because I didn't feel well, but most of those in attendance were over seventy years old with many in their upper eighties. If I felt this terrible at my age, I definitely didn't want to give it to someone decades older than me.
I was bummed to miss Bible study but made the best of it. Yesterday, I watched Father Mike's mass online as it was a Holy Day of Obligation, and today I finished my Bible study workbook for the newest lesson on Isaiah. I hadn't taken anything for my illness as most medications hurt my stomach, but I did consider using my inhaler this afternoon because my asthma was really bothering me. Instead, I decided to just rest and drink a lot of liquids.
Although, I felt a little bit better by this evening, I realized that I was probably in for the long haul. I guess if I was going to get sick, the timing couldn't be more perfect. Besides Bible study, I didn't have much on my agenda outside of getting ready for Christmas. I should have plenty of time for that now that I have committed to just staying at home.
