The Calm Before the Storm

It was nice to have a free weekend to get everything done and to rest before the holiday celebrations began. I definitely do not have the energy that I had ten years ago, so getting ready for Christmas absolutely exhausts me.  I do not mind at all as I love having our family visit us, but I have had to adjust how I prepare myself for them to arrive.  No matter the changes, I am really looking forward to everyone being here as we haven't all been together since Brett's wedding in June.

This weekend did have some excitement to it.  We watched the Bears win in dramatic fashion almost certainly securing their spot in the playoffs.  Unfortunately, the opposite occurred with the Lions, but the game did have an exciting ending as well.  Doug and I also played multiple games of Ticket to Ride, ordered Marco's for dinner and took a walk through Sholom Park where we saw a heron fish for its evening meal.  We went to mass, and I worked the gift shop afterward.  The best part of the weekend was just spending time together whether on the back patio with the tiki torches lit or driving through our neighborhood checking out the Christmas decorations.  It may have not been everyone's favorite way to spend a weekend, but it was perfect for us, and I enjoyed it immensely.
