Handmade Gifts are the Best

Since Nick was gone for the week for work, Meg decided to come out this past weekend to work on sewing projects.  She wanted to make everyone something for Christmas.  I was really impressed with what she completed while she was here.  It took a lot of time and there were definitely some frustrations with the sewing part of the projects, but overall, Meg did a wonderful job, and I was glad that she finished Cora's gift in time for me to send it with the present that I had gotten her for Christmas.  Meg also handmade her own Christmas cards this year which were absolutely adorable.

This week, I thought a lot about Meg's projects.  Although, I didn't like to sew quite as much as Meg, I did really like working on my own projects.  Whether by computer, ink or by craft, creating something by hand always felt good.  It was what I was missing lately; having time to myself to work on a project that I wanted to do instead of doing something for someone else.  I loved helping my family, but over the past six months, that has been all that I have done.  I decided that today was the day to start and I picked up a project that I had been wanting to work on for several months.  It felt great to begin on it, and I was already looking forward to the end result.

Life can be overwhelming. I was glad that I finally remembered to stop and take some time for myself.  That was exactly what I needed and was thankful for the gentle reminder from Meg.
