MedStat

Cameron hurt his leg last week when he ran into a bench running at full speed.  He had a large knot on his shin with a dark bruise.  It was extremely sore to touch, but he could walk on it.  When it first happened we put ice on it and gave him Ibuprofen.  It seemed to get better over the weekend.  Last night's soccer game must have aggravated it, however, as it was once again inflamed and sore to the touch.  We decided that we would take him in today just to make sure that it was healing and there wasn't damage to the bone.

Since Dr. Clouse has been hard to get an appointment with and their office doesn't have an x-ray technician, we decided to go to MedStat.  We had had success with them in the past and were glad to get in right away.  The doctor diagnosed Cam with a bone contusion, but wanted to x-ray it just to make sure there was no indentation or chip in the shin.  Unfortunately, the software on the x-ray machine was down, so we had to then go to Nappanee for the pictures.  It took a little longer to get in then we expected, but it was a quick trip to Bethany afterward and by 9:40 Cam was back in school.

We heard back from the Syracuse office before I got home from dropping Cam off at school.  The
x-ray confirmed a bone contusion and soft tissue damage, but no break or chip.  Cam will have to take three Ibuprofen three times a day and put a warm compress on it when it hurts.  He will also have to sit out of sports for the next three days.  After that he should start feeling better.  That will be just in time for the Wawasee game on Monday.  He's been looking forward to that all season.
