Tonight was the first summer soccer practice for Doug and the high school girls. Meg had several other incoming Freshmen attend this evening with her. There were also some newcomers in other grades as well. All told Doug had eighteen girls show up this evening. He felt that was his best total for a first night so far. They spent most of the evening scrimmaging. Doug, the Freshmen and newcomers took on the Varsity. They lost, but Doug and Meg were happy with their performance.
I am glad that high school activities have started for Meg. She needs a change from middle school and I will be glad to be done with the girl drama. Meg has several sophomore friends on the soccer team and she was happy to hang out with her friends from Wawasee Middle School tonight as well. Although I would love for Doug to have a winning season this year, I'd be most happy if Meg was able to leave behind the negativity of 8th grade and get a fresh start.
