The Homecoming Parade

The craziness of yesterday finally settled down and Doug and I enjoyed our day in Bloomington.  I was definitely sore and bruised, but the majority of the pain and discoloring was confined to my left eye.  Doug thought it was cool that it looked I took a punch from Mike Tyson, but I could have done without the injury.  Thankfully, the swelling did not affect my vision and we had a great day despite the fall last night.

We started our morning on Kirkwood where Cameron met us after his interview.  He was very excited about it and was hopeful that he would be given the opportunity to intern with the company.  We walked through the shops looking at the IU merchandise while he was telling us about his conversation.  Doug and I were happy that he had gotten the call.  While we were shopping, I finally found the Hoosier Bison shirt that had the throwback design of the 1960s bison that I had been looking to buy.  After my purchase, the three of us headed to the IMU so that I could try it on.  While we were there, Cora stopped by to say hello before her class started.  I greeted her with “Hi Cora, do you think this shirt fits?”  Cameron thought it was funny and Doug remarked that she might as well know no how crazy I really am.  Thankfully, everyone thought the shirt looked great and we were pleased to catch up with Cora as well.

Doug, Cameron and I walked to Fat Dan’s next to meet Brett for lunch.  He had the day off for a meeting in Indianapolis this morning.  He was happy with his meeting as well and we all enjoyed a meal together.  Before Cameron left for office hours, the four of us walked to the record store on Walnut.  It had some great vinyls today, but we were more interested in window shopping.  Once Cameron headed back to  campus, the three of us went to Oliver Winery for some wine tasting.  It was packed, but they got us in quickly since Doug was a wine member.  The wines were nice and the weather was beautiful.  We spent the afternoon talking about our favorite Justice League Superheroes and River Phoenix.

Doug and I then took Brett to Andy Mohr Honda to pick up his car.  They had figured out that Brett had a bad igniter in his car that was causing the issues that he was having with his starter.  I was glad as it had been bothering him for weeks and no one else could find the problem.  Doug and I went back to the IMU to check out The Vault, the new pub inside the Union that had opened several months ago.  We both liked the atmosphere and finished just in time to grab a great seat for the Homecoming Parade.  I had been wanting to watch it for years and had never been able to make it work in our schedule.  The parade was filled with a lot of floats of various organizations from the school.  Although, it was Wicked theme, most were decorated cream and crimson for the football game tomorrow.  The parade was a lot longer than we expected but well worth it as Cameron was front and center on the SAB float. I thought it was the best entry in the parade.  The judges must have agreed as they won first place.

Doug and I went to Columbus after the parade to go to dinner with Karen and Brett.  They picked 4th Street Grill which we all enjoyed very much.  After dinner, we went back to their apartment to play Ticket to Ride and listen to vinyls.  I also got to see their new keyboard which looked and sounded wonderful.  It was a lot of fun and a great way to end a wonderful day in Indiana.
