Leroy

Meg returned today from a special trip to Indiana.  Nick's grandfather, Leroy, had passed away several weeks ago and the Yoder family had scheduled the funeral for this weekend.  His death was not surprising as he had been in and out of the hospital for the past seven weeks with serious health issues, but it was very sad for Nick.  Nick had had a special relationship with his grandparents as he spent the most time with them growing up.  He was the youngest of all of the cousins and was babysat by them regularly when his mom returned to work.  Nick also enjoyed their company and visited them often when he got older.  He talked about them frequently and was glad that Meg got to know them as well.  Receiving a glass chicken from Leroy was one of Meg's prized possessions when she and Nick got engaged.

Meg called to let us know that the funeral and visitation had been very nice.  She had been in charge of printing pictures for the service and was glad to help out.  As sad as it was to say goodbye, Meg let us know that it was nice to visit with Nick's grandma and loved that she was also able to spend four days with her own grandparents as well.  She and my mom got haircuts, went to lunch, bought my mom new closes, played Racko and watched Wheel of Fortune.  Overall, it was a very nice trip to Indiana and one that Nick and Meg will remember for quite some time.
