Today would have been Jeanette’s 80th birthday, and for the first time in a long time, I didn’t post anything for it. It wasn’t because I forgot, but more because it has actually gotten a lot harder without her. There are so many wonderful things that we would love to share with her, but can’t. Meg’s wedding, Cal’s success at Plante Moran, Brett’s engagement and Cameron’s involvement with IU athletics. She would have loved hearing all of it and would have enjoyed being involved in their adult lives.
This summer, one picture that was extremely important for me to have taken at Meg’s reception was the one of the entire Heinisch family. It was because I knew that she would have loved that. She would have been front and center, making sure that everyone was in it and looking good. It would be hanging in her living room for all to see, and she would have talked about that day with everyone that stopped by to see her.
I knew that things would change after Jeanette died, but I didn’t realize how much. Hopefully, she knew how important she was to her children and grandchildren. They definitely know how important she was to them and miss her very much.
