Christmas Shop

For the past three days, I have been helping with the Christmas shop at Blessed Trinity.  It is a program that provides religious items for the children of the school to purchase to give as Christmas gifts for their family.  There were gifts priced anywhere from twenty-five cents to ten dollars.  The elementary students thoroughly enjoyed coming in and having a way to buy gifts for their family on their own.  I had a lot of fun helping them pick out their gifts while staying within their budget.  It amazed me what items were purchased.  Some of them that I thought would not be very popular were gone on the first day.  Others were still there at the end of the week.

Overall, I was very glad that I volunteered for this program.  It felt a little unorganized at first, but after a few shifts, it all started to flow better.  Checking out the purchases at the register was slower than I thought it would be, but that could be because I wasn't used to ringing up a lot of items at once.  The only real negative about helping was that it was extremely tough on my leg.  It made me realize that I would struggle physically to go back to teaching and that I may have to follow up with my doctor if it doesn't resolve itself by the end of the holidays.
