End of a Fantastic Week

Cal left this morning at 10 a.m. to go back to IU.  Hannah-Marie rode with him.  I was glad as that would make the ride more enjoyable for him.  I was sad to see Cal leave, but realized that he was ready to get back to a routine.  He had finals the week before Thanksgiving, so he needed a break, but ten days were plenty for him.  The only bad part about the return trip was finding out that the truck wouldn't start when he went to pick it up from Brett's.  Thankfully, he and Jayce were able to jump it.

Since we had a free afternoon, I decided to finish the Christmas decorating.  All that I had left at the end of the day was the Christmas houses to put out.  Doug helped me and worked on some other projects as well.  Cam spent a quiet day here watching television and resting from a long day yesterday.  Meg invited a friend over.  They watched movies and played pool.

After dinner we took Mom her birthday gifts.  She turns seventy-five tomorrow, but we decided to celebrate today since Cam had a basketball game after school on Monday.  Doug made carrot cake which was delicious.  We gave her a canvas print with photos of our family in Bloomington and some apple butter from our trip to Saugatuck.  The big surprise, however, was a new television for her living room.  They had wanted a larger one and we got a good deal on one at Target's Black Friday sale.  We spent the rest of the time setting it up for her.  I was glad that they liked it.

We ended the evening watching a movie with Cam.  It was a thriller from 1987 that I had never heard of, "House of Games."  It was better than I thought it would be with a surprise ending.  None of us were ready for the weekend to be over, but at least Christmas break was just around the corner.
