Today we left as soon as Doug got home for the Hampton Inn at Midway. Doug decided a couple of days ago that he didn't want to get up at 1 a.m. and drive to the airport. He was afraid that he would be too tired to drive or that we would have car trouble on the way, so he booked a room where they provided shuttle transportation to the airport as well as let us park our vehicle.
I had everything packed and ready to go when he got there. We left at 5:15 and stopped at Portillo's for dinner in Merrillville. Traffic was light on the way and we arrived at the hotel before nine Chicago time. Our first room wasn't quite suitable to me as the carpet was still wet from when they cleaned it, but the second room was nice and we all decided to go to bed early and watch the Cubs game. The hotel was definitely close to the airport as it was within three blocks. Whether it was excitement, nerves or Doug's snoring both Cam and I had a lot of trouble falling asleep. By the time I got up to shower Cam had just drifted off. Hopefully, we will be able to sleep on the flight.
