The Aftermath

This morning, we woke up to the news that Donald Trump had won yesterday's presidential election.  I had expected the news but wasn't happy with the result.  I didn't think either candidate was worthy of the office, so I knew that I wouldn't have a strong reaction no matter who won.  Because of this, I was absolutely amazed at the hate that was being posted all over social media.  Women were saying that they were going to get their tubes tied so that they wouldn't have to worry about being denied an abortion.  People were calling those who did not vote for Harris "stupid", "racist" and elitist.  Since I didn't vote for him or her, I was actually offended by their comments, especially since I knew several of the people making them. Instead of arguing with any of them or pointing out that the freedom they complained that they were losing was for everyone, even if those people disagreed with their opinion, I decided that it was time to stop looking at social media and completely avoid the news if I could.

Thankfully, there were bright spots after the election.  We found out that the two amendments in Florida that we voted against did not pass.  Doug and I were both surprised by that as we really thought that we were in the minority on those issues.  The other nice part about yesterday was that all of the people that Brett supported and campaigned for won.  My favorite part of the election, however, was seeing the picture that Brett took of he and Cameron at the voting precinct.  It was a great way to commemorate his first vote in a presidential election.
