We were at Camp Crosley this morning at 9 a.m. to pick up Cameron and Meg. I was so glad to see both of them. They had a great week and couldn't wait to tell us all of the stories. Before we headed for home we stopped by the camp store. They both had a lot of money to spend. Cam got a shirt, sunglasses and a DVD of the week. Meg had already bought a t-shirt, so she wanted a sweatshirt and a water bottle.
We found all of their baggage and loaded it into the van. I loved listening to them talk on the way home. They shared a lot of the same experiences and knew many of the same campers and counselors. Both knew about the Italian camper in love with Gabby, talked about seeing Mr. Voirol, had stories of soccer, and a lot of fond remembrances of Mock Rock and the end of the week bonfire. Cameron really liked two of his cabinmates, Carter and Alex, and thought his counselor was awesome. Meg was so proud of the fact that a new friend plans to request her as a cabinmate next year and happy to have an involved counselor this summer.
I was so happy for Cam and Meg today. They once again survived a great week of camp. I am glad that we decided to send Meg to camp six years ago. It is something that they will never forget and an important part of their childhood. Both can't wait until next year.
