Summer vacation officially ended today for all of the Heinisch family as school started for me and Cal headed back to Bloomington. My day was long as we had meetings in the morning until 11 a.m. and then had to stay in our rooms until 6:15 for the open house. Meg didn't have practice tonight, so she at least was glad that we had to be there so late. She visited with several of her middle school teachers and also found some of her friends from last year to hang out with.
Cal left before any of us got home. He visited Mom and Dad in the morning, spent the afternoon with Hannah-Marie and still made it to his house by 7 p.m. He tweeted shortly after arriving that one hour in his house made him hate living in the dorm even more. He spent the evening working on his room and getting something to eat. His plan before classes started on Monday was to go to a couple of the welcome week events and also look for a job.
I was definitely sad this morning thinking about summer coming to an end. We had such a wonderful time together as a family. There was adventure in traveling, new friends made going to camp, a multitude of rounds of golf and still time just to relax. I know that my birds and squirrels will miss me and the house won't be as clean, but as the saying goes, "All good things must come to an end."
