Today was Meg's 16th birthday and she had a fantastic day. Aaron decorated her locker and brought her donuts. Graham made sure the alcove was covered with post it notes spelling out Happy Birthday to her and Preston gave her a cactus and a charm bracelet. All day long she received snap chat birthday wishes from her friends and Mrs. Short even let the Yearbook class order pizza to celebrate the day.
Although I received several text messages from her during the day, we didn't actually see her until after 6 p.m. She had tennis practice after school and was happy with her play. The four of us went to dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings and then came home to enjoy cake and ice cream. Mom and Dad met us here to watch Meg open gifts. Meg enjoyed her new tennis outfits from Doug and I and the money Grandma and Grandpa gave her tucked inside a new wallet. She was surprised to find a couple of items that she hadn't asked for - a statement of faith necklace and a purple polka dotted bath towel. She didn't let anyone at school sing to her, but we didn't hold back as she blew out her candles.
It was a fun day for Meg and enjoyable for those of us who celebrated with her. As I read back through my memories on Facebook I realized that Meg hasn't changed that much over the years. She has grown older and more beautiful, but on the inside she has remained the same. This post from 3 years ago still holds true today. Happy Birthday Meg, we are so incredibly proud of you!
