Tonight was Cameron's birthday party with his friends. We invited friends from Milford and Bethany combining for a total of eleven boys. Meg and Kaitlin decided they would join us as well. We chose Signature Lanes in Elkhart for the adventure as we thought it would be easy for the Bethany friends and we could pick up the Milford crew. Cam had bowled there several times before as Meg's soccer is right across the parking lot and really enjoyed it.
The evening went off very well. All of the boys and teenage girls seemed to have a lot of fun. We ordered pizza for everyone and had a Spongebob cake made from Lance's. It looked fantastic and tasted just as delicious as always. Cameron's gifts centered around a Star Wars theme with Legos, games, Nerf guns and more. Cam made treat bags for all and each participant received a coupon for a free game of bowling on a return trip.
The night flew by quickly and Cam was still excited about it all by the time we got home. I was happy that so many of his new friends could make it. We also met several of the parents. I realized on the way home tonight that this was also the end of an era for the Heinisch family. We told the older boys that fifth grade would be the last of kid birthday parties. They can still have friends over for cookouts, slumber parties and such, but eleven seems the perfect age to finish the large group birthdays. It definitely was a great one to end on.
