I arrived at my parents on Monday morning ready for a few days at their home to help out in any way that I could. The last time I was there in July, they didn't really need me to do much except hang out with them, take my mom to get a haircut and run some errands. I couldn't believe the change that six weeks had brought. My mom was up and walking around without her walker in the house. She had projects in the garage that she was working on, and they were both more than ready for me to help them downsize several items. I was glad to see the difference and happy to help.
Knowing that I wouldn't be able to sort through everything that needed downsized since Brett had brought up more boxes on his last visit, I decided to prioritize what would be easiest to sell. I started with the books since I knew that they sold very well on my last visit. I found $50 worth of books to send to two different online book sellers and mailed those out yesterday. Next, on my list was all of the items that my parents and I thought would sell on Facebook Marketplace. My dad said that he would meet the buyers if I put them online, so I organized all of those items and took pictures before boxing them up to put back in the garage. I wouldn't have time to list them until next week, but they would be ready to go when I did.
The last project was the most fun. I organized all of Brett's comic books and video games to take to Chimps Comix in Warsaw. I didn't know if they were worth anything but knew that it was the easiest way to find out. My parents decided to ride along so that we could look for my dad a new printer. In the end, we found success all around. The comic books weren't worth anything, but the video games brought in over $100. Plus, Chimps threw in two Wii games that our family had wanted - High School Musical Sing It Senior Year and Wii Play. The three of us were thrilled and celebrated with lunch at McAlister's. The rest of the afternoon was spent setting up grandpa's new wireless printer which not only worked but was easy to use making it a wonderful day for all.
