My mom was released to the nursing home to start her rehabilitation this week. She was not excited to go but was definitely ready to start the process. The harder she worked, the sooner she would be back home. They had several places that they could choose from, but decided to stick with The Waters, formerly known as Miller's Merry Manor, so that she could be close to home. That would be the easiest way for my dad to visit often since it was only two blocks away. Others may have been rated higher, but they would not be as convenient.
So far this week, my mom has started both physical therapy and speech therapy. It has been hard, but she is working at it. On days that the therapists are out, my dad has helped her with it, especially the speech. The food has been a challenge, as she can't have certain foods yet. She does like the vanilla Ensure and cottage cheese, but everything else tastes bad right now. Hopefully, that improves soon. The one nice part is that the nursing home has the western channel on cable. My mom can watch all of the Gunsmoke that she wants. That will keep her busy for a while.
