Graduation

The past two days have been a whirlwind of graduation celebrations that we have thoroughly enjoyed!  Brett's ceremony was at 10 am Saturday morning.  It went off without a hitch.  I did not cry as I am too happy for Brett.  He has been ready for this day for quite awhile.  I did, however, tear up when he hugged his Academic Superbowl coach.  They have grown very close and I know he will miss their discussions.

Brett's Open House was a success!  He had a lot of visitors!  Brett had picked out the awards he wanted to display and had a great time showing off his "womanizer" certificate from drama.  There was a lot of food with badminton, corn hole and hillbilly golf in the backyard.  Parce, Aunt Jan, my cousin Jackie's family, my Mom, and Doug's parents stayed until late.  Brett's friend Michael challenged both Brett and Cal to games of chess, checkers and Stratego until well after the party ended.

We enjoyed visits from Brett's former teachers, the Dean of Students, neighbors, family, friends, church members and even Mom and Dad's pastors.  Several of Brett's friends were here as well as all of his Academic Superbowl team members.  I had framed pictures from Halloween, trips to Walt Disney World, drama, visits to Bloomington, and the first day of school kindergarten to senior year to go along with the DVD that Brett and I made several months ago.

Brett's party was slated to end at 4, but we still had visitors here at 8:30.  Brett stepped out for a little while to attend two other open houses.  By the time we sat down at 10:00 pm, we were tired!  It was a nice feeling, however, and such a wonderful day!  Now summer vacation can officially begin!
