Savannah, Georgia

Brett and Karen arrived back from their honeymoon last night in time for their local July 4th celebration.  They had had a fantastic time in Savannah, Georgia.  They stayed right in the middle of the historic district so they could walk everywhere.  While they were there, they visited the Prohibition Museum, took a historic trolley tour of the city, walked to dinner every night, and stopped at the local train museum bringing back a lot of nice memories from Brett's youth.  They both said that the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist was their favorite part of the trip, and I loved listening to their experience on the ghost tour carriage ride.

Savannah wasn't all that they did on their trip.  They also stopped in Charleston, South Carolina to visit Fort Sumpter.  As an added bonus they even got to go to dinner with Brett's longtime friend, Patrick, plus meet his nieces and nephews as well as his family's cats.  On the way home, they stopped at Asheville to do some shopping and have lunch.  That meant a lot to them as it was the place that they got engaged.  Overall, it was a great trip for the two of them and we enjoyed hearing all about it.  I was also glad that they were able to use the rest of the wedding money that we had given them for the trip as well as Grandma and Grandpa's money for their hotel rooms.  That along with the discounts that I could get them on Hilton hotels left them plenty for some fun souvenirs and a couple of extras on their trip as well.
