Indiana Fever

The sport of the summer so far has been the WNBA.  The popularity of Caitlin Clark, now in her second season, has exploded.  Tickets for the Indiana Fever games have peaked at $200 for select games.  The fans adore her and the aggressiveness of opponents against her has elevated the number of stories in the news surrounding the sport.  It seems that every time I turn on the television there is a game in progress.

Although Doug and I have not quite caught on to the excitement of the WNBA.  Several of our family members have.  My mom and dad watch the games religiously.  Cora has been a fan since "Kate" played at Iowa, so she and Cameron have caught almost all of their games this summer even several in person.  Cal has joined the list of WNBA watchers as it gives him something to bet on during the quiet sports months of summer.  Meg said that even her father-in-law follows the sport.

I am interested to see what happens with the hype surrounding the league since Caitlin has missed several games due to injury.  There haven't been any other players that have created as much excitement about the sport as she has, although there are a few that have become villains due to their treatment of Clark.  Even though we don't watch much, I do try to keep up on the sport so I can talk to those who follow it.  I agree with Cal; it is nice to have something sports related to talk about while waiting for Wimbledon and the British Open to being.
