An Injury Time Out

Tonight was the first high school boys basketball game.  Cal was unable to play because of his ankle, but he is already doing a lot better.  Nick thought he could return to practice when he feels like the pain is tolerable, which should be some time this week.  The other good news is that the pain on his feet is calluses and not bunions.  A change of shoes should make a big difference for him.

Doug and I both went to parts of the game tonight.  Neither of us enjoyed the fact that Cal had to sit out, but it was a lot of fun watching him interact with the fans in the stands and the other injured players.  He has such a great personality and his friends seem to really enjoy being around him.  He went to McDonalds with them after the game and handled being "benched" very well.

Cal has also taken a turn in his attitude towards studying and college.  He is genuinely excited about his physics class and doing well this trimester.  It has been so neat to see him develop into his own this year.  He has worked hard at it and we couldn't be more proud.
